Who We Are

United Way supports vulnerable children, families and seniors in our community - individuals that need our help most.  When United Way helps others, our community is stronger.

We are volunteers, with a small staff, that raise funds to support community  in ways that impact  lives in a real way.

This website is designed to help you learn what United Way is doing in the South Okanagan Similkameen.

We are part of United Way of the Central & South Okanagan Similkameen - www.unitedwaycso.com.

United Way is also a partner with Credit Unions of BC and the provincial government in Success By 6® - an early childhood development initiative dedicated to providing all children with a good start in life. It helps to ensure that children ages 0 to 6 develop the emotional, social, cognitive, and physical skills they need as they enter school.

Better at Home is a program that helps seniors with simple day-to-day tasks so that they can continue to live independently in their own homes and remain connected to their communities. The Government of British Columbia funds the program, United Way of the Lower Mainland manages it, and local non-profit organizations, Penticton District and Community Resources Society and South Okanagan Seniors Wellness Society in partnership provide the services.

In partnership with the Community Foundation of the South Okanagan and as the joint recipients of a private bequest, the United Way is investigating how we can better support youth as they work towards a healthy self esteem.
